News release from Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park...

As part of the long range improvement plan for the Ski Area, Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park’s management staff are proud to unveil a significant remodel of the mountain’s Main Lodge.  The Main Lodge remodel features brand-new upstairs restrooms, enclosed staircases to the main level, new siding & windows, and other modernizations throughout the Lodge.

The brand-new restrooms are located on the main cafeteria level, replacing the previous outdated & undersized facilities.  Built completely new from the ground up, the new restrooms are twice as big as the previous facilities and feature multiple stalls and sinks on both the men’s and women’s sides.

The restrooms were expanded to accommodate participants of the ski area’s Spokane Parks & Recreation’s Adaptive & Therapeutic Recreation programs.  Now ADA-accessible, the facilities welcome skiers & riders with disabilities. The logistics of getting students into a bathroom they could use was cumbersome, embarrassing and a time consuming ordeal. Oftentimes students and their families would not return to Mt. Spokane because the bathrooms were not easily accessible,” says TRS supervisor Alice Busch.  “These new bathrooms will make the skiing experience more enjoyable and will no longer be a barrier for our students. I never thought I would be so excited about a bathroom!”

A new Internet Café was built on the main cafeteria level, which features Red Chair bench seating and a custom-made countertop for convenient internet browsing.  The Lodge features FREE wi-fi access now throughout the entire building, including the Foggy Bottom Lounge and Addition, provided by Air-Pipe.

Additional improvements include new siding on the exterior of the building, replacement of several windows with new energy-efficient models, and enclosed staircases up to the main level.

This remodel follows a significant 1,200 square foot Addition to the Main Lodge in 2012 which created new seating for up to 100 people and a new outdoor deck.
