Photo Gallery | Spokane remembers those lost during Vietnam

For the next three days a bell will ring out 82 times at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in remembrance of the 82 men that Spokane lost during the Vietnam War. The AVTT Traveling Wall, an exact replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall, will be on display at the cemetery.

It's been 12 years since the wall was last in Spokane and it took a year of planning and organization to bring it back for it's four day visit October 3rd-6th. On Thursday afternoon, members of the Daughters of the American Revolution read out the names of the 82 Spokane men who lost their lives during the war while members of the Sons of the American Revolution rang a replica of the Liberty Bell with each name.

The wall be open 24 hours a day throughout the weekend so they everyone who wants to visit the wall and pay tribute to the 58,000 people named on the memorial will have the chance to do so. Greenwood expects at least 50,000 people will visit the wall while it's in Eastern Washington.

"This replica offers visitors a chance for healing and reflection," said Denny York, President and CEO of Fairmount Holdings, Inc. "We're very pleased to be able to bring this to Spokane. Our company is dedicated to serving those who have given their all for our country. As part of our 125 year anniversary, we are honored to provide this opportunity to area veterans and their supporters who might not be able to travel to see the actual memorial in person."

The VA has a vet center on site for veterans who need counseling or someone to talk to while they are visiting the memorial wall, and there are volunteers on hand to help visitors find the names of their loved ones. Military members will post the colors every day at noon. Keynote speakers are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Click HERE to view a complete schedule of events.

Greenwood Memorial Terrace is providing free shuttle bus service to the wall site. Shuttles will run 9am-6pm on Friday and Saturday and from 9am-4pm on Sunday. The shuttle will leave from the parking lot of Life Center Church on Friday and Saturday and from Palisades Christian Academy on Sunday. Shuttles leave every 10 minutes.
